Socrates Papapoulos is Professor of Medicine and Director of Bone and Mineral Research at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases of the Leiden University Medical Center. His research addresses issues related to the pathophysology and management of osteoporosis, Pagets disease and metastatic bone disease with special emphasis on the basic and clinical pharmacology of the bisphosphonates.
